mhlo.co now on iPhone! The Oscar for Best Costume Design goes to the designer who creates the most compelling costumes for characters in film. In 2011, five movies (and designers) garnered Academy Award nominations for Best Costume Design. The field includes several veterans who’ve received multiple nominations (and wins) in this category, and a pair of newcomers. The 2011 Best Costume Design Oscar nominees are: ”Alice in Wonderland,” costume design by Colleen Atwood ”I Am Love,” costume design by Antonella Cannarozzi ”The King’s Speech,” costume design by Jenny Beavan ”The Tempest,” costume design by Sandy Powell ”True Grit,” costume design by Mary Zophres Colleen Atwood, a Best Costume Oscar nominee for ”Alice in Wonderland,” is a nine-time Academy Award nominee in this category. Cannarozzi has been working in the industry for nearly 15 years, and has 14 Costume Design film titles to her credit. This is the best of the Blizzcon 2009 Costume contest in under 10 min. It features the best costume-to-concept matches in my opinion. I made it slightly more dramatic, adding pictures of the costumes as the contestants walked out, tweaking some of the sound, and adding appropriate music at the end. I had to make some difficult cuts to keep the video under 10 minutes. I also edited the contest winner scene at the end so that the end was more dramatic with no corny jokes. I had a great time at the convention and recommend it to anyone, even a non-gamer. There are a lot of theatre folks there too, who enjoy costume design, voice acting/singing, and dancing.
This Is It. To kick off the halloween season on Threadbanger, we’re showing you how to make the most requested halloween costume of the season. Yup, you guessed it, prepare to be transformed into the almighty…. Michael Jackson.
A description of a relatively simple Halloween costume using 2 iPad2s to make it look like you have a huge hole in your torso. You’ll also need a MiFi hotspot (if you don’t have a WiFi network available where you want to use the costume). Basically you start a FaceTime chat between the iPads and then tape one to your front and one to your back. Add a little red paint and you’re good to go. It’s supposed to look like you have a gaping hole in your torso. NOTE: The iPads were borrowed. This costume cost me to buy a white shirt a Goodwill. If you spend more time than I did on the blood and the flesh part and lining up the iPads it could look pretty cool.
