I am convinced, as a historian of culture, of the value of anecdotal evidence, including that of persons who, most of them quite reluctantly, narrate events of contact with non-terrestrial intelligent beings. I am much impressed by the studies that the late Dr. John E. Mack of Harvard made with hundreds of persons from several countries, whom he called “experiencers”. Some spoke to him of the so-called “greys” (one person, from Latin America, called them “blue baldies”), those who abduct people, children and adults, and do various sorts of “medical” procedures on them. Here I am sticking out my neck by recounting a childhood memory that could well be ascribed to a repressed episode of sexual abuse – were it so, and I knew this as a fact, I should feel rather comforted. As it was, this memory led me to an insatiable curiosity about the mysterious and very much non-terrestrial dimensions of the universe.
