When hooking up two 12volt batteries to create one 24volt battery, does that also double the amps?

Posted by sandman49

Is the amp output doubled when hooking to batteries up in series? I know the voltage is doubled, so I think the amps is also doubled.

Will using higher mHa batteries in my digital camera shorten its life?

      Posted by sandman49

I’m looking to buy spare batteries for my camera and I’ve noticed that all of the cheap batteries are 2-3x the mHa of the batteries that come with my camera. I would like to know if there is any risk in using these batteries in my digital camera.
These batteries I’ve mentioned are rechargeable specialty batteries. I’m not talking about AA or AAA batteries. I thought this would be obvious, so I didn’t mention it originally.

What to do with used regular batteries Recycling center no longer takes them?

        Posted by sandman49

The Brown County Recycling center will now only take rechargeable batteries (individually wrapped & separate) I am told by a co-worker, and no longer accepts the regular type of used batteries. Any ideas on who, where or how to dispose of these now? We collect quite a few at work. Thanks for your help!

What rechargeable batteries have the lowest self-discharge rate?

                Posted by sandman49

Aren’t there 2 types of self-discharge? One where the battery flattens by itself and needs to be recharged again and one where the battery loses its maximum capacity and will no longer hold the same amount of charge it used to?

So what are the batteries with the most lowest SD rate? Please tell me the batteries with the lowest SD rate from the two types of SD above (permanent and temporary).

                Thanks.

Why are batteries inserted with half facing one direction and the other half facing opposite?

                  Posted by sandman49

In nearly every battery operated device the instructions call for some batteries to be inserted positive side down, and the other half positive side up. Suddenly, after a lifetime of using batteries, I woke up wondering WHY?
