I’m thinking of buying a used Samsung HL-R5656W DLP TV and would like to know how to check the lamp hours before I purchase it. Does anyone know where this information can be found?

Is there any way to derive digital audio from the LCD TV which gets HDMI input from the DVD player?
Posted by sandman49I guess there are no LCD TVs which have digital audio out. Are there any other method to derive digital audio from the LCD TV so that I can hook it up to my 5.1 channel AV receiver? LCD TV speakers really suck. Some LCD TVs have variable audio out (RCA jack). This will be of some help, but again this is analog and hence low quality audio.

Does the government (US, UN, NASA, anywhere) have an extra terrestrial contact procedure?
Posted by sandman49Has anyone ever seen rules for contact with extra terrestrials? Not that we would ever need to use it, but it brings up a bigger question. If we have such rules, would it not be logical that higher life forms would have even more rules?
So I propose the following possibilities.
1. We are alone as an intelligent species in the universe.
2. There is extra terrestrial intelligent life in the universe and we are unaware of each other.
3. There is extra terrestrial life and they are aware/have vistited of us, but the ET’s choose to remain hidden from the world public as much as possible.
4. There is extra terrestrial life and they are aware/have visited of us. We are aware of them, but our leaders choose to keep the ET’s hidden from the world public. Maybe our leaders are even in contact with them.
Personally, I vote for #2 or #3.
For the record, I think most UFO sightings can be explained or are untrue/mistakes. I do not totally discount this, I am just very skeptical.
I tried very hard to keep this as scientific as possible.
My rules would consist of making contact, then throwing a huge party for them. The biggest ever.

Zero Point Energy?
Posted by sandman49My professor mentions repeatedly about zero point energy and its soon coming applications. I know that partical-antiparticle creation and anihilation on the subatomic scale happens with some frequency in a vacuum. Is this the energy they are talking about? Any information I have gleaned offline through searches shows that we pretty much have little or no idea as how to obtain this energy anywhere in the near future. And aside from any sci-fi fanatics, not many people know anything at all about it, (even they dont have much of a clue) Is this correct? Where are we with this technology?

I need a cute saying for our wedding favors?
Posted by sandman49I made little pink rose shaped soaps and put them in tulle bags as favors for our May wedding. I am purchasing tags to attach to the bags with our name and wedding date, however, I also want a cute saying as well. One- so people know they are soaps and two- because I think it is a cute idea. I just can’t think of anything. Anyone have any ideas?

What shoes are really comfortable for walking on concrete floors?
Posted by sandman49I wore Nike Wide Width running shoes last year. However, this year, we are not allowed to wear tennis shoes to work. We must wear dress shoes. I work on old concrete floors and am on my feet all day. Dress shoes are causing blisters, pain in the ball of the foot, and cuts. I cannot find any shoe that is comfortable all day. What can I wear?
